Huntington Beach Weekend Getaway

Is it Fall yet? Although the calendar screams autumn leaves, scarves, hoodies, and boots, Central California weather says otherwise. Since we were expecting this past weekend temperature to be almost 100 degrees, we escaped the Central Valley weather and headed to the beach.

We decided to go to Surf City so we can visit Downtown Disney District on our way back home. Our weekend itinerary is usually Friday evening to Sunday afternoon but our Huntington Beach weekend getaway was little short and truthfully, we didn't do much outside our hotel so a post called What To do in Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach is probably more suitable.

We arrived at the hotel Friday evening. Right now, due to pandemic, it is difficult to find anything that would deliver food close to 10 pm. We did find a restaurant called Simmzy's who accepts orders until 10:15 pm!

We arrived at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Friday Evening. Here are some things (and fees) to expect.

  • Room rate starts at $409*, exclusive of taxes & fees, per night*

  • Resort fee of $35 per night

  • Valet parking is $42 per night

  • Due to pandemic, they are limiting housekeeping services to every 4 days

  • Your personal phone can act as a guestroom key &/or TV remote

  • Mankota & Slyder pools are open. Slyder's waterslides and Spa Grotto (adults only) are currently open

  • They have a cute courtyard village where you can purchase beach items such as swimsuit and souvenirs

  • Watertable has good food. Definitely recommend for breakfast. If you wish to visit them for dinner, make sure to book a reservation.

  • Surf City Grocers has a grab & go breakfast, Starbucks coffee, and alcoholic beverages

  • Pete's Sunset Grille & Bar and Tower 15 Pizzeria are open. Tower 15 will deliver to guest rooms

  • Pacific Waters Spa & Salon is open and offers massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and hair salon services

  • They do fish feeding activity at the pond by the Pacific Waters Spa & salon at 10 am, daily

#2538, two queen beds with partial beach view.

The next day, after having breakfast at Watertable, we spent some time exploring the hotel. The hotel itself has plenty of scenery and the courtyard is beautiful. They also have a pretty lighthouse pedestrian bridge that leads to Huntington City Beach.

At the Beach hut, located at the end of the beach bridge, guests may check out beach amenities such as beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels at no cost. We spent most of our Saturday at the beach, relaxing and watched the kids play in the water. Cody had bought me a new toy, a DJI Mavic Mini Drone and I was able to play with it for about 20-30 minutes until the beach started to get crowded. I didn't get much shot as it was my first time flying a drone, I mean, I didn't even get higher than 30 feet cause I was too scared. HAHA! Huntington Beach did not have rules for flying, and we were about 7 miles from the nearest Airport.

After sunset, firepits for a beach bonfire are available. Would be great for smores! There were quite a few people barbecuing. Not far from where we were, there is a spot to play beach volleyball. Please share some tips and other fun activities in the comment section below so others may enjoy Surf City!

* Rate depends on the time of booking, date of stay, &/or length of stay, etc. While this is not a sponsored post, I did receive a discount as an employee.
