Five Easy Low-Waste Skincare Swaps
Let's talk about Five Easy Low-Waste Skincare Swaps!
Make-up Remover/Cleanser
What I used to use: Banila Co Clean it Zero
Low Waste Alternative: Organic Virgin Coconut Oil as a make-up remover/cleanser. I have been double cleansing for a few years now. I use an oil-based cleanser to remove any water-resistant product, then use a face wash to completely remove any stuff in my face. Coconut oil is very rich oil and does an amazing job as a make-up remover to cleanse your face -- the best part, it's moisturizing and it's all-natural! This is an affordable and multi-functional item I highly recommend having in your home.
Reusable Makeup Remover Pads
What I used to use: Cotton Pads and
Low Waste Alternative: This Reusable Pad is gentle, cost-effective and eco-friendly. A single cotton ball weighs between .40 - .55 grams. An average of 1400 gallons of water is required for every pound of cotton. One pad saves 100 cotton balls and 14,000 gallons of water (for every 100 cotton balls).
Face Wash Soap
What I used to use: Origins Checks & Balances
Low Waste Alternative: Bar face wash soaps are great swaps! You all know how much I love Lush Cosmetics and therefore, I have to suggest their Sleepy Face. Another awesome alternative is Ocean Salt, especially for exfoliating. Ocean Salt may not be in naked packaging but, did you know you can take back your black pots to Lush and they will recycle and reuse them? I usually bring back five at a time to get my free fresh face mask!
Tin Box Containers
I was introduced to tin box containers when I first got obsessed with Lush Cosmetics. It is a great way to store bar soap. Let me tell you, four years later, it is still in great condition. Lush is currently selling its tin containers for $3.95 each. Here's something similar.
Moisturizer
What I used to use: Origins A Perfect World SPF 40
Low Waste Alternative: I promise, this is not a Lush Sponsored post. However, it is a brand I have used in years and still love. Made with almond oil and Jojoba oil, Skin's Shangri La is so nourishing but not greasy!
