Chinatown Fresno Mural
The Fresno Chinatown Mural is located behind Komoto's Dept Store on Kern and G Street. In the 1900s, Chinatown had a vibrant Chinese culture. Unfortunately, most of the Chinese architectures and businesses are gone but there are still awesome murals to see! To keep up with Chinatown's project & development, visit Chinatown Fresno.

As I unravel these beautiful gems in Fresno, I can't help but search for more and learn more about each mural! Originally with only the two-headed serpent and what seemed like a masked creature (possibly a temple guard?), this art is now filled with many symbolic and cultural elements such as California poppies and other florals all over the serpent. This mural is definitely Instagram worthy!
This alley mural located in the China Alley (side of the serpent mural above), is also filled with many cultural elements. This theater is a historic Art Deco theater built in 1948 but closed in 1980s. Besides films, singers, and theatric acts were also showcased on this building. It was the first Spanish language cinema in the San Joaquin Valley.
